World Mission in the Wesleyan Spirit

Sinopse

Since its inception over 200 years ago, the Wesleyan/Holiness spirit has demonstrated a profound, revivalist commitment to strong and effective mission action in world evangelization, in the power of the Holy Spirit, transforming lives and social structures everywhere in the world. After Roman Catholic global missions, arguably the second most significant Christian missionary movement in the world has been the composite of Wesleyan/Holiness missions. World Mission in the Wesleyan Spirit documents how Wesleyan mission has been understood and practiced from biblical, theological, historical, cultural, and strategic perspectives. We see how evangelism and social responsibility in mission are held together in creative tension in different cultural contexts. We discover Wesley's concept of prevenient grace alive and well among many different people groups. The 31 essays in this collection provide enjoyable and stimulating reading because they are carefully researched and well written. Missiologists, missionaries, and lay persons interested in understanding God's mission in the world will benefit greatly from engaging World Mission in the Wesleyan Spirit. --from publisher description
