Communities in dispute

Sinopse

This collection of essays on the Johannine Epistles draws together the best work of an international constellation of Johannine experts making new inroads into the situation, composition, and theological content of 1,2, and 3 John. The essays not only address communities in dispute in the early church, but they also further modern discussions among contemporary scholars as to how to understand and interpret these writings today. The volume includes fresh contributions on the relationship between the Gospel and Letters of John, Johannine ethics, the concept of the antichrist, the role of the elder, and a more accurate translation of a well-known verse in 1 John.
