Story of Drama

Sinopse

Tracing the histories of tragedy and comedy from their earliest beginnings to the present, The Story of Drama offers a lively account of the development of each genre, illustrated by close analysis of landmark plays in their contexts. It argues that sacrifice is central to both forms, and demonstrates how its various operations provide a key to understanding a broad swathe of Western drama from Ancient Athens to Hollywood.
