Sinopse
"In October 1932, the streets of Belfast were grippped by rioting. Railing at the indignity of the state's "relief" programs of poverty pay and hard outdoor labor, thousands of unarmed demonstrators fought extended pitched battles against heavily armed police, digging trenches and building barricades to hold off the assault. The event became known as the Outdoor Relief Riot--one of very few instances in which class sympathy managed to trump sectarian loyalties in a city famous for its divisions. Through archival research and firsthand accounts, Mitchell recoveres this important and inspiring period in working-class history."
