Sinopse
Which features of Expressionism are constituents of music, the visual arts, literature and film, and what influence does Expressionism have on contemporary artistic production? Artists and academics from a range of disciplines came together to discuss these questions at an inter- and transdisciplinary symposium organised in Frankfurt am Main in the autumn of 2010 by the Institute for Musicology at the Goethe University and the Institute for Contemporary Music at the College of Music and Performing Arts. The interweaving of artistic and academic perspectives gave rise to surprising insights which are collected in this volume. As an introduction, art and scholarship meet in the examination of three programmatic works of expressionism in music, literature and art. Supported by source-texts by Wilhelm Hausenstein and Arnold Schering, the contributions which follow the first, historical part of the volume, cast light on the influence of Expressionism today.
