In twenty thematic chapters, the author traces the history of the great Minnesota State Fair from its beginnings in the 1850s to its place in the 1980s among the top five major North American fairs. Features more than 300 black-and-white illustrations -- historic photographs showing long-gone amusements as well as early versions of fair scenes that know no era, and contemporary photographs that capture the fair's varied moods and scenes.
