Sinopse

The Petersburg Artillery was organized in 1843 as part of Petersburg's militia regiment (the 39th). It was officially mustered into the Confederacy in 1861 and was later known as Captain Edward Graham's Company (Graham's Battery) of the Virginia Horse Artillery. The Kanawha Artillery (or Battery) was raised in 1861 at Charleston, Virginia, by Captain John P. Hale. It was part of the 22nd Virginia Infantry Regiment, but later became Captain Thomas E. Jackson's Company of the Virginia Light Artillery (after 1863 Virginia Horse Artillery). Lurty's Roanoke Battery (or Artillery) was organized in 1863 with men mainly from the Roanoke area. It was under the command of Captain Warren S. Lurty.
